  5. VARNET's Project Costing is designed for a wide variety of cost accounting
  6. applications. It is integrated with VARNET's Inventory, Purchasing, Payables,
  7. Payroll, and General Ledger. Budgeting allows continued revisions of project
  8. elements by percent or actuals. Cost variance reporting compares budget with
  9. actuals, or budget with budget revisions, and cost to completion. Complete
  10. history of each task is maintained. User-defined tasks and task groups allow
  11. for the projection of future estimates. Contract information is maintained
  12. regarding committed costs, amount invoiced, and adjustments. Projects and tasks
  13. consolidate accumulated costs in summary and detail. Using the flexible
  14. reporting options relevant analytical reports facilitate cost accountability.
  15. Material, overhead, tasks, units, contracts, activities, time sheets, and
  16. projects are the grist for this accounting mill. As with the other VARNET
  17. modules, the Project Costing system is fully multicompany, multidivisional, and
  18. multidepartmental through VARNET's "entity" structure.
